In order to minimize the risk in the Himalayan region of Everest, according to the new policy implemented by Nepal Government, Everest Trekking without guide has been prohibited for foreign visitors. So, they need to take minimum of one guide or a porter with them. This policy will ensure safety of trekkers. Trekking without guide or porter has been restricted by Nepal Government.
As this policy has been strictly implemented, foreigners cannot go for independent trekking in Everest. This decision has been greatly appreciated. When the guide or porter is with the trekkers, it is easy to establish communication. Also, there is possibility of immediate rescue in case of emergency. Trekking in Himalayan region is not free from risk. The conditions are unpredictable and the weather is uncertain. So, if you are with the guide, he will take quick decision and lead you through alternative route. Most of the guides are trained in emergency medical rescue. They are well informed with things that should be done in case of High Altitude Sickness. There is also chances of deviating from the standard Everest trekking route and getting lost in the wilderness if you do not go to Everest with trekking guide.
